The Royal Sword

You explore Winchester Castle with the help of an audio tour guide. The audio is interrupted by a man who addresses you directly and introduces himself as Stephen. A dangerous magic wielder is putting you and everyone within 600 miles in grave danger. Keep walking and he'll figure out how it's controlling you.

Stephen continues speaking and suddenly you're in a bramble-filled garden. As the audio tour guide talks about the garden, the brambles begin to chase after you, and try to drag you back, pulling you into a wall.

You're chained to the wall of a dungeon. Stephen explains that a powerful being landed in your brain. You've been asleep ever since, and Stephen is guarding your body. He'll enter your dreams and stabilise the situation. Also you've inherited a capacity for magic from an ancestor who was a witch. Play along for now and stay active!

You need to look for Excalibur so Stephen can use it as a homing beacon. The audio guide seems to have taken you where you need to be to find it; the Great Lake.

The Lady of the Lake gave Excalibur to Arthur in mythology. If you hold it, Stephen will be able to find you. Thunder and lightning begin as you approach the lake, and a hand holding a sword emerges from the water. The audio guide tries to deter you, but Stephen urges you to grab the sword!

You reach the lake and dive into the freezing water. The audio guide talks about how touching Excalibur is to know death, but Stephen tells you to ignore it. Thunder rolls overhead and you're suddenly caught in fishing nets which start to drag you down beneath the surface.

Stephen tells you to channel the magic of the storm and pulls Excalibur into the water. You manage it and then Stephen is there. He cuts the nets and pulls you out of the lake. Pendragon has been scared off for now. Stephen introduces himself as Doctor Stephen Strange, Sorcerer Supreme. Let's get you dried off!
