1
A woman on a bicycle accidentally runs into you while being chased by the police. The policeman, Officer Brenner, confiscates the bicycle, stating that they are unsuitable for use by women. To prevent the occurrence of 'Bicycle Face', the police are authorised to seize all bikes possessed by women. The officer rides off on the bike, exclaiming that the bell is delightful. The woman, Yvette, notices that he rides straight past the police station! She's going to follow him, and you decide to go with her.
2
Yvette explains that she works at a laboratory five miles out of town, so the bicycle is essential to her. Up ahead, you hear two police officers discussing Officer Brenner and complaining that they're supposed to work by night. They say that Brenner took the bike to a cliff. Yvette remembers being taken to a nearby cliff in the woods when she was a child. Her grandmother had pointed out a cave halfway up the cliff. Maybe Brenner has gone there?
3
You peer through the trees and spot the cave. A lift has been built to reach it. The lift is powered by a single man, Charlie, who seems unhappy about hauling people up and down each day. He lowers Officer Brenner to the ground, confirming that he brought the bicycle here. Yvette hands you a test tube and tells you to go and hide in the nearby bushes, then light it when she gives the signal. It should sound like a dog barking and cause a distraction.
4
Yvette gives the signal and you light the test tubes, which sound like barking dogs, confusing Charlie. You use the distraction to run for the lift and start hauling yourselves up. Yvette explains the sound the test tubes is the "barking dog reaction" – she'd brought them home to show her younger brother. Just a few more pulls and you'll reach the cave!
5
You reach the cave and notice that Charlie has vanished. You find a report called Project Blackbird that says the police have been stealing and selling bicycles, and will get the council to outlaw other items for women, such as books and cameras. The Mayor is collaborating with it because he's receiving 25% from the sales! Yvette takes the report. Now you need to find her bicycle.
6
You find all of the bicycles that the police have stolen in the next room and pick out one each. You hear the police arriving outside the cave! It doesn't look like there's a way out, but Yvette feels a breeze coming from behind a boulder. You manage to move the boulder and reveal a passageway to the outside! Just in time, because Brenner has reached you. You flee through the passage with your bikes and come out onto the hill behind the cliff. You climb on your bikes and get pedaling!
7
You manage to escape the police, but the ground is rough terrain and very steep. Thankfully, the police are much worse on bicycles than you and crash them as they go down the hill. Yvette says that she's going to give the report she took to the newspaper and get the Mayor put in prison. But Officer Brenner was correct, her bell is delightful!
