1
You're Technician Five and you've left Red Scorpion Base with Doctor Whitmore and Corporal Anderson on a routine maintenance operation. Only a few of the base's missiles are functional, but you need to keep the one closest to the border with the Maghreb Protectorate in good condition. Whitmore questions whether the Maghreb are your enemies, but Anderson berates him. You're contacted secretly by Sergeant Felis, who tells you that you need to keep this secret from Anderson. She hopes that this mission is genuinely for maintenance, but she needs you to keep an eye on things to avoid bloodshed. Anderson hurries you along. You are on a schedule.

Whitmore says he remembers watching the moon landings when he was a child, wanting to be part of it, but by the time he got to NASA, Apollo was over and it didn't look like humans would get to other planets. He asks Anderson if they could try talking to the Maghreb Protectorate. Anderson says that for all they know, the USA is gone, and they need to preserve and protect their nation's last bastion. Sergeant Felis tells you that Whitmore is a good person, but afraid to step out of line, which is why she came to you, not him. Anderson is also a good person, but she doesn't understand what war really means. The wind is picking up, so you need to hurry to the launch site.

Whitmore is impressed by the landscape, and asks how Anderson ended up at Red Scorpion Base. Anderson says she got a call, same as everyone else. Whitmore says that things were going badly at NASA when he got the call. Red Scorpion needed a rocket scientist when they thought the red fungus might be extraterrestrial. He doesn't know why they chose him because he was a mess at the time, but he suspects now that maybe they had wanted someone desperate who wouldn't care about leaving. Anderson insists that it's because they wanted heroes who could make sacrifices for their nation. You're interrupted by a horde of zombies, but Anderson instructs you to perform an evasive manoeuvre to escape them.

Good job, Five! The zombies fell into the gully below you. Anderson has ended up on the other side of the gully, leaving you without your military escort. Anderson contacts you giving her location. She can get through the zombies, but not fast enough to catch the launch window. She wants you to use one of the missiles to destroy a Maghreb grain store in a pre-emptive attack. Whitmore is horrified, but Anderson says that you have to defend what's left of America and tells you not to argue.
5
Whitmore says that you can't destroy the grain store, but if you disobey, you won't be able to go back to the base and you don't have any supplies. Sergeant Felis contacts you again, and Whitmore hears her as well. She says that Anderson's order did not come from her, and she has worked to keep the fragile peace with the Protectorate. She tells you to sabotage the missile to save the Protectorate silo, and in exchange, she will help you leave Red Scorpion and build a new life. Whitmore agrees to the plan and Sergeant Felis tells you to get to the silo. Anderson contacts you saying she's fought her way through the horde and will rendezvous with you at the launch site. Felis tells you to reach the silo before her. Run!

You've made it to the launch site! You need to sabotage it. Anderson says that you should not launch the missile because the zombie horde is heading towards the Protectorate and it will kill hundreds of people and contaminate their food stores. Sergeant Felis says that at least this way war will be averted, but she can't grant you freedom either. She'll need your help in future. Whitmore says he can't stand it, and says instead you could use the missile to bring down a cliff onto the horde. It will put you in danger, but saving lives is more important. He sets off the missile and the cliff begins to collapse. It takes out the zombies, but it has caused an avalanche. It'll crush you if you don't run!
7
You're alive. Whitmore says that despite the situation, he feels like he's found something that matters. Sergeant Felis says that you saved a lot of lives. Anderson believes that you died in the rockslide. She also believes you were rogue elements working alone, so Felis won't be exposed. Felis needs to keep working to keep the peace between Red Scorpion and the Maghreb. She tells you about a buried supply cache nearby. You destroy your headset and set off. You're free. Whitmore says that the Maghreb Protectorate has some very advanced technology. It could be a good place for a couple of scientists.
