Channel Hopping

You are with Janine at the entrance to the Channel Tunnel. Maxine's message reached many places, but Valmont blocked the signal in so many others. Janine's plan is to get back to the UK and warn them in person. There's a speck of light in the distance.

The light is torches held by soldiers. You are contacted directly by Slava who is leading them. Janine guides you to a maintenance stairway before the soldiers can reload.

You reach a platform on an island, but there's not much cover and they're shelling the water to keep you from swimming. You enter the bunker and encounter Veronica who says she's been moved here because of security concerns. Slava has destroyed her countermeasures with artillery but Veronica says she can keep you safe but you have to listen. Head down the stairwell.

Veronica has been infected by a virus and is attempting to fight it off. Slava speaks over the PA system and explains that Veronica has been experimenting to find a better way to neutralise V-types. She overrides containment to release the ghouls. Veronica tells you to go to her processing core which can be sealed. Go!

Veronica seals the chamber but the ghouls are spreading and will tun V-type soon. The soldiers will be easy prey. She says her self destruct should collapse the compound, but she won't survive, and she believes this was Valmont's gambit all along. She says that there is something that both she and ANNIE are afraid of, something which is burning away their systems. Janine refuses to let Veronica die. She jumps into your implants, and you set off again, following the screens that Veronica lit.

You get out onto the island, and are met by Amelia. She says Maryam sent a courier from the Maghreb; the prisoners you freed made it home, so the UK's falling out with them is resolved. Amelia needed proof of Valmont and Slava being enemies, and knew that if Janine returned it would force them to act. Amelia receives a message from the mainland. She's going to need you but it might already be too late.
