1
You've travelled south with Robert and Marigold. There is something here you need to find, and time is running out. Marigold spots a cluster of rotting concrete buildings, a research station, and knows this is the place. You have to find her so you can help Natalie, even if you aren't sure who "her" is.
2
The buildings are slowly being reclaimed by nature. Robert says that the place feels evil... sick... Marigold says that it was a black site, and it's getting easier to touch the minds of the others. You hear footsteps – a zombie. Robert could shoot it, but it might draw attention.
3
The zombie is catching up, and Marigold is tiring. One final burst of speed and Robert turns to shoot the zombie, but its head is encased in metal mesh – a Faraday cage to keep the signal out! The zombie charges, but runs straight past you. You hear fighting and Marigold says that this "she" hasn't got long left. Follow that zombie!
4
You find zombies fighting each other. They all have cages on their heads. Marigold thinks the cages were meant to protect them from what the people in the valley did. A woman, Jill, calls to you and Marigold knows that she is the person you've been looking for. There are barely healed wounds from where the metal connections of a cage were pulled out of her. She coughs, and the zombies turn towards you. Run!
5
Jill is infected. She says they developed a vaccine, but never had the chance to perfect it. It slows the infection down, but doesn't cure it. She held on because the "tree-thing" told her she had to wait, though she isn't naturally sensitive like Marigold and the others. They trapped its physical form in a classified location. She doesn't know where it is, but she can help you.
6
You're going to the central control room. This was the culmination of a 60-year project. There was evidence going back thousands of years that humans had contact with aliens. The Nahanni Valley project trapped something. When it was trapped, all it gave them was a pain so great they had to put their minds behind bars to keep it out. But Jill took the cage off. She thinks the cages didn't really keep it out, it just kept all their cruelty and fears and frustrations in. She took it off when she was bitten because she wanted to remember how to feel normal. And it spoke to her, told her to give you the keys to the kingdom.
7
Jill has Marigold sit down in a chair beneath a helmet. She's going to register Marigold's neural fingerprint and give her access to all of the sites. It prickles, but is over quickly. Jill is changing, but smiles in gratitude as Robert raises his gun. She spent years fighting her conscience, but she has done what she can to set it right.
